- Wolverine Blend
- A common research-material label for a lyophilized vial containing BPC-157 and TB-500 together, supplied for in vitro laboratory research only. See the Wolverine stack explainer.
- Wolverine stack
- Informal nickname for the Wolverine Blend research vial: a lyophilized BPC-157 + TB-500 blend — BPC-157 10 mg + TB-500 10 mg per vial (20 mg total labeled content) — for laboratory research use only. The nickname is not a brand or a therapy.
- Wolverine peptide
- Informal nickname for the Wolverine Blend research vial. Same material as Wolverine Blend and the Wolverine stack. For laboratory research use only.
- BPC-157
- A synthetic 15-amino-acid research peptide (sequence GEPPPGKPADDAGLV; CAS 137525-51-0; PubChem CID 108101). BPC stands for Body Protection Compound. BPC-157 is a synthetic peptide with no UniProt entry of its own.
- TB-500
- A synthetic research peptide commonly described as the N-acetylated heptapeptide Ac-LKKTETQ (residues 17–23 of thymosin β-4) — the actin-binding motif of that protein. The exact fragment can vary by vendor; verify against the supplier COA. The N-terminal tetrapeptide Ac-SDKP of thymosin β-4 is a different fragment, not TB-500.
- Thymosin β-4 (Tβ4, TMSB4X)
- The naturally occurring 43-amino-acid, N-terminally acetylated protein from which the TB-500 synthetic fragment is derived. Encoded by the gene TMSB4X on the X chromosome; UniProt entry P62328.
- GHK-Cu
- Copper tripeptide-1: a complex of the tripeptide Gly-His-Lys (GHK, CAS 49557-75-7) with a copper(II) ion (CAS 89030-95-5 for the complex). Appears as an added component in some multi-peptide research blends.
- KPV
- The tripeptide Lys-Pro-Val (KPV), the C-terminal tripeptide of α-MSH. Appears as an added component in some multi-peptide research blends.
- Pentadecapeptide
- A peptide composed of 15 amino-acid residues. BPC-157 is a pentadecapeptide.
- Heptapeptide
- A peptide composed of 7 amino-acid residues. The common TB-500 vendor form (Ac-LKKTETQ) is a heptapeptide.
- Amino acid (residue)
- The building block of a peptide or protein. In a sequence like GEPPPGKPADDAGLV, each letter is a residue (G = glycine, E = glutamic acid, P = proline, and so on). Residue count is the chain length of the peptide.
- Sequence (primary structure)
- The order of amino acids in a peptide, written from the N-terminus (left) to the C-terminus (right). BPC-157 sequence: GEPPPGKPADDAGLV. Common TB-500 sequence: Ac-LKKTETQ.
- N-terminal acetylation (Ac-)
- A post-translational or synthetic modification in which an acetyl group (CH₃-CO-) is attached to the α-amino group at the N-terminus of a peptide. Ac-LKKTETQ denotes an N-acetylated form of the heptapeptide LKKTETQ.
- Lyophilized
- Freeze-dried. Water is removed under vacuum from a frozen sample, leaving a dry powder or cake in the vial. The dry form is more stable than the same peptide in solution and does not require a cold chain in transit.
- HPLC (high-performance liquid chromatography)
- A separation method used on a peptide certificate of analysis to measure the fraction of the sample that is the target peptide (purity). The output is a chromatogram with one or more peaks and an integrated purity percentage.
- Mass spectrometry (MS, LC-MS/MS)
- An analytical method that measures the mass-to-charge ratio of ions and confirms the material matches the expected molecular mass of the stated amino-acid sequence (identity). On a research-peptide COA, MS confirms identity while HPLC reports purity.
- Certificate of analysis (COA)
- A per-lot document that reports identity (usually MS) and purity (usually HPLC) for a specific manufacturing batch of a research peptide. See the how-to-read guide on this site.
- Lot number (batch accession)
- A unique string tying the test results on a COA to the physical vial on the bench. Match the lot on the vial label to the lot on the COA before trusting the numbers.
- CAS Registry Number
- A unique numeric identifier assigned by Chemical Abstracts Service to a specific chemical substance. BPC-157: CAS 137525-51-0.
- PubChem CID
- The Compound ID assigned by PubChem (NCBI’s public chemistry database). BPC-157: PubChem CID 108101.
- UniProt accession
- The unique identifier for a protein entry in the UniProt database. Thymosin β-4: UniProt P62328. BPC-157 is a synthetic peptide and has no UniProt entry of its own.
- Molecular weight (MW)
- The sum of the atomic weights of the atoms in a molecule, expressed in g/mol (or Da for peptides). BPC-157 average mass ≈ 1419.5 g/mol; Ac-LKKTETQ (common TB-500 form) ≈ 889 g/mol.
- Empirical formula
- The counts of each element in a molecule. BPC-157: C₆₂H₉₈N₁₆O₂₂. For TB-500 the formula depends on the exact vendor fragment.
- Actin-binding motif
- The short sequence within thymosin β-4 (residues 17–23, LKKTETQ) that binds monomeric actin inside the cell. The TB-500 synthetic fragment is drawn from this motif.
- Ac-SDKP (a different β-thymosin fragment)
- The acetyl-seryl-aspartyl-lysyl-proline N-terminal tetrapeptide of thymosin β-4. Named in the β-thymosin literature as a separate fragment; it is not TB-500.
- Multi-peptide blend
- A single lyophilized vial containing more than one peptide. Wolverine (BPC-157 + TB-500) is a two-peptide blend. GLOW adds GHK-Cu; KLOW adds KPV. Each additional component adds an expected HPLC peak and MS mass on the COA.
- In vitro
- Latin for "in glass". Describes laboratory work performed outside a living organism, for example in cell culture or a cell-free assay.
- Research use only
- A supply category covering reference materials intended for laboratory research and non-clinical investigation, not for human use, veterinary use, or diagnostic or therapeutic purposes.
